Doritos' Solid Black initiative, which has a new spicy-sweet flavor, celebrates Black entrepreneurs and changemakers.
According to a press release, the new Spicy Pineapple Jalapeo flavor offers a "jalapeo kick and tangy pineapple flavor."
The Houston flavor was inspired by an award-winning chef. Doritos Changemaker Williams is the founder of Lucille's 1913, a Houston food bank. Doritos' parent company, Frito-Lay, will provide $50,000 to the NGO.
Spicy Pineapple Jalapeo Doritos are available in stores nationwide till October. Mz. Icar, described as "an anonymous art cooperative comprised
primarily of Black women who explore the histories and futures of women and people of color through art," created the packaging, according to the statement.
Solid Black for the third year. Every year, Doritos recognizes Black Changemakers who "drive culture, change the status quo, and give back," according to the company's website.
The initiative awards $50,000 to changemakers. Spicy Pineapple Jalapeo was originally suggested on Instagram in late April.
Most people were eager to try the flavor after the success of earlier Solid Black Doritos flavors, most notably Blazin' Buffalo & Ranch with Mz. Icar's package redesign.
n a TikTok taste test, Doritos were rated as excellent. According to another TikToker, jalapeo is the most popular, followed by pineapple.
If you enjoy spicy foods, these Doritos may be for you. According to one Reddit user, the flavor is hotter than imagined.
