The prayers of many portable poultry aficionados may be answered. McDonald's Snack Wrap, the discontinued menu item that fans have been asking for, may return.
At its investor day on Dec. 6, McDonald's announced that it will sell the McCrispy, a “Southern-style fried chicken sandwich” with pickles on a buttered potato roll, worldwide by 2025.
Thus, the “is snack wrap back at McDonald’s?” Twitter account may soon tweet “yes”. In addition, it wants to make McCrispy wraps and tenders.
“In the U.S. business, we have three really strong chicken brands between McChicken, Chicken McNuggets, and McCrispy,” McDonald's USA president Joe Erlinger said Wednesday.
McCrispy is still growing its brand, so we're looking ahead. Will tenders ever be crispy? Yes. Will that enable a McCrispy Snack Wrap? Yes. However, that is still new.”
In a Dec. 6 press statement, McDonald's said it would grow to 50,000 outlets by 2027 as it develops its new space-themed, beverage-focused restaurant design, CosMc's.
The chain said its chicken business is comparable to beef and continues to “aggressively expand through billion-dollar equities including McNuggets, McChicken, McCrispy and McSpicy,” including tenders and wraps.
The original Snack Wrap, featuring grilled or crispy chicken and ranch or honey mustard sauce, was discontinued by McDonald's in 2016, sparking internet outrage.
